"Dodgy Doggy" is Kea Xie's first solo exhibition. The word Dodgy hints at hidden issues or potential pitfalls, while Doggy represents cute, mischievous dogs. These dogs exist in a state of chaotic neutrality—harmless and innocent on the surface, but always poised to stir up little bits of mischief at the most unexpected times, compelling us to stay alert. Xie’s work is much the same: the playful, whimsical images conceal a complex weave of thoughts and layered voices.

"All along, I’ve been trying to clarify and visualize the many ebbs and flows of my inner world. Emotions come and go, just as people do. When faced with unavoidable sadness, I always choose to escape into my creations—perhaps things will pass, or perhaps they will stay. These traces are like height marks on a wall, becoming an inseparable part of who I am."

This exhibition, in collaboration with Sumdao Cafe, expands on this theme, where the playful pups make their subtle appearances across Sumdao’s dishes and treats.
